ISRO has realised a new video on its Twitter handle, showing the surface of the Moon in close-up, captured by the Vikram Lander's LPDC, after the lander successfully separated from the propulsion module.

Vikram lander of Chandrayaan 3 has reached very close to the moon. The high-tech camera installed in the lander also sent the latest images of the moon, the video of which was shared by ISRO on its official Twitter account. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said on Thursday that the lander module & the propulsion module of Chandrayaan 3 have been separated.

After this ISRO was informed that the health of the lander module (LM) was normal. The LM successfully underwent a deboosting operation that reduced its orbit to 113 kilometre x 157 kilometre. The second deboosting operation is scheduled for 20 August 2023.

LPDC is basically a camera, whose full name is Lander Position Detection Camera. (Lander Position Detection Camera) LPDC is installed in the lower part of Vikram Lander. These are placed so that Vikram can find a suitable and flat place for landing. With the help of this camera, it can be seen that the Vikram lander is neither landing on any rough place nor going into any pit i.e. crater.

This camera is very useful as this camera can be turned on shortly before landing. Because looking at the photo that has come now, it seems that this camera was switched on for trial. So that the photo or video can get an idea how well it can work. This sensor was also used in Chandrayaan - 3 , it also worked properly.

LPDC's job is very useful to find a suitable landing spot for Vikram. The Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC), Laser Altimeter (LASA), Laser Doppler Velocitymeter (LDV) & Lander Horizontal Velocity Camera (LHVC) will work together with this payload.
